Super Recycler 60V review

The battery Super Recycler

The Toro 60V Max Super Recycler (21566) takes the aluminum-deck Super Recycler and replaces the gas engine with a brushless 60V motor. It ships with a 7.5Ah battery and charger for $799 on Toro’s site. A bare-tool 21568T costs $769, which shows how little the battery adds to the price once you already own 60V gear.

If you already own Toro 60V tools, this is the mower to look at, because the battery is shared.

Motor, battery and runtime

The motor is brushless DC at 60V Max (54V typical). The included L405 battery is 7.5Ah and 405Wh, and Toro claims up to 50 minutes of runtime. The charger takes about 180 minutes. Toro does not state an area-per-charge figure on this page and recommends yards up to about a third of an acre.

Deck and cutting

The deck is 21-inch cast aluminum with dual-blade accelerators and under-deck wedges to chop clippings finely. Blade tip speed is listed at 16,949 ft/min. Cutting height runs from 1.0 to 4.0 inches in four points. Mulch and bag are standard with a 1.8 bushel bag, and a side discharge chute is available free on registration.

Drive and handling

Personal Pace drive follows your walking pace up to 4.0 mph. The mower weighs 90 lb and has 8-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels. SmartStow lets you store it upright, saving up to 70% of the space compared with a 22-inch walk mower.

Warranty and who should buy

Toro’s 21566 page lists a 5-year full warranty on the mower and 3 years on the battery, but the bare-tool 21568T page lists 2 years limited, so confirm which applies. Buy this model if you want a quiet, no-gas mower with an aluminum deck and plan to use more 60V Toro tools. For bigger yards, the gas Super Recycler or a self-propelled model with two batteries is the safer pick.
