Quick answers

Tractor & Lawn Mower Reviews: Common Questions

Short, practical answers to what buyers ask us most. Still unsure? Ask the owner community or browse every review.

01What is the best tractor for 5 acres?

Most owners with around 5 acres are well served by a compact tractor in the roughly 25 to 45 HP range with a front loader and a rear or mid PTO. Terrain, the jobs you need done (mowing, snow, hauling, brush) and the attachments you plan to run matter more than acreage alone. Our tractor reviews list real specs and owner feedback so you can narrow it down.

02Should I buy a zero-turn or a riding lawn mower?

Zero-turn mowers cut faster and trim closer around trees and beds, so they suit large, mostly open and fairly flat lawns. Riding mowers and lawn tractors with a steering wheel are usually steadier on slopes and better at towing. Our lawn mower reviews cover both so you can compare deck size, engine, transmission and price.

03What deck size do I need?

As a rule of thumb, 42 to 54 inch decks suit typical yards up to about an acre, while 60 inches and wider save time on larger open areas. Make sure the mower still fits through your gates and into your storage space.

04How are tractors and mowers rated on TractorRating?

Each review scores a model in categories such as performance, build quality, reliability, value, comfort and features, and lists its full specifications. Owner star ratings are collected separately and approved by our team before they appear, so you can compare our assessment with real ownership experience.

05Can I leave a review of my own tractor or lawn mower?

Yes. Every review page has a Write a review button. Owner reviews are checked by our team before they are published, and links and spam are not allowed.

06How do side-by-side comparisons work?

Choose two or three models of the same type, either from the comparison tool above or by ticking Compare on a review card, and you get their specs, ratings and prices in one table with the best value in each row highlighted.
