Toro TimeMaster Review
The TimeMaster is the right Toro walk-behind for people who want a wider cut and self-propel without buying a riding mower. It is heavy at 140 lb and we found no confirmed price.

TimeMaster review
The Toro TimeMaster at a glance
The Toro TimeMaster (21199), sometimes written Time Master, is a 30-inch gas walk-behind built to cut a bigger swath than a 21-inch mower. It combines two blades, Personal Pace self-propel and a steel deck, and Toro recommends it for yards up to about an acre. We could not confirm a price for the TimeMaster on Toro’s site, so check a dealer.
This review looks at the 21199 only, which is the model Toro currently lists.
Engine and cutting
A Briggs & Stratton 223 cc OHV engine rated at 10.0 ft-lb gross torque powers the TimeMaster, with pull start. The deck is 30-inch 13-gauge steel, and cutting height runs from 1.25 to 4.25 inches with two-point adjustment. Two Atomic blades work with the Dual-Force cutting system, and a Spin-Stop blade stop and Blade Override System are included.
Drive and discharge
Personal Pace with Traction Assist drives the rear wheels at up to 4.5 mph. Bag, mulch and side discharge are all standard, with a 2.5 bushel bag and a chute in the box. That is more complete than the 21-inch Recyclers, where the chute is optional.
Size, handling and storage
The wheels are 8 inches in front and 10 inches behind, and the mower weighs 140 lb, which is a lot more than a 21-inch walk-behind. A cast-aluminum frame and washout port help with cleanup. The Quick Stow handle gives two storage positions, but it is not the vertical SmartStow system.
Warranty and fit
Toro lists a 3-year warranty plus a 3-year guaranteed-to-start engine promise, although one page says full and another says limited. It is not available to ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Choose the TimeMaster if you want to finish a one-acre lawn faster than a 21-inch mower will, without moving to a zero-turn.
