Z330R review
Our take on the John Deere Z330R
The John Deere Z330R is the fully equipped version of the Z330M. It has the same 23 hp V-twin, the same 48-inch forged deck and the same wide tires. The R adds armrests, LED lights, a floor mat and covered storage. Those items would cost extra on the M.
What the R adds
Armrests make long mowing sessions easier on your arms. LED lights let you mow at dusk. A rubber floor mat cuts vibration. Covered storage keeps small items dry. The seat is a 20-inch high-back design with spring suspension and armrests.
Deere sells the armrest, light and mat kits for the Z330M for about $274 combined. The Z330R costs $200 more than the Z330M, so the gap is small.
Engine and drive
The engine is a 23 hp FR691V V-twin. Drive is a Hydro-Gear EZT transmission with twin levers. Speed is 7 mph forward and 3.5 mph in reverse. Tires are 11×6.0-5 up front and 20×10.0-8 in back. A rear hitch is standard.
Deck
The 48-inch deck is forged from 10-gauge steel. A 54-inch deck costs $100 more. Cutting height runs from 1.25 to 4.5 inches. The MulchControl kit and Power Flow bagger are optional.
Limits to know about
The Z330R weighs 611 lb. The tank holds 3 gallons. It does not have a roll bar. If you want that, look at the Z530M. It is the most expensive Z300 gas model we cover here.
Who should buy it
Buy the Z330R if you want a comfortable mower with lights and armrests ready to go. Choose the Z330M to save $200 and add kits only if you need them.
