MT200 review
The step up from the MT100
The Murray MT200 is the more powerful of Murray’s two 42-inch lawn tractors, with a 19 gross hp Briggs and Stratton engine and an automatic transmission. Home Depot listed it at $2,199 in October 2026, $200 above the MT100. This Murray MT200 review is spec-based and uses Murray’s page, Home Depot and a third-party database.
Power and drive
Murray lists a Briggs and Stratton EX1900 series (model 33R8) engine at 19 gross hp and 540 cc, with electric start. The transmission is called automatic, and Home Depot states speeds up to 5.5 mph. A third-party database labels the drive a CVT, but we did not find that wording on Murray’s page.
Automatic drive means no shifting: you use pedals for speed and direction, which suits people who find the MT100’s six-gear manual a chore.
Mowing deck
The deck matches the MT100: stamped 13-gauge steel at 42 inches, twin blades, side discharge and a single-lever 13-position height control. Home Depot also sells an MT200 bagging bundle.
With the same deck on a stronger engine, the MT200 should hold blade speed better in thick or damp grass, though Murray gives no figures to prove it.
Size and handling
Tires are 15×6.00-6 front and 20×8.00-8 rear, and turning radius is 18 inches. Murray’s page leaves out weight and fuel capacity. TractorData lists 392 lb and 1.4 gal, but we could not confirm either on a maker or retailer page, so treat them as unverified.
Home Depot rates the MT200 for up to 2 acres, the same as the MT100 listing.
Warranty and who it suits
The warranty is 2 years limited. TractorData dates the MT200 from 2023, with an original price of $2,199, which matches today’s Home Depot figure.
Choose the MT200 if you want pedal-operated drive and extra engine reserve for a one to two acre lot. Stay with the MT100 if the lower price matters more. As with any tractor in this class, treat the two-acre rating as a best-case figure for open, flat ground and plan around your own terrain.
