Quest review
Exmark Quest basics
The Quest is Exmark’s residential-priced zero-turn line, and yes, it is a lever-steered zero-turn: dealer pages we read describe hydraulically dampened twin levers. Exmark’s page lists E-Series at $3,799, S-Series at $4,899, X-Series with no price, and a V-Series 42-inch battery model at $6,799.
This Exmark Quest review covers the gas line. Exmark’s page is inconsistent on deck widths: the text mentions 42, 50 and 54 inch decks, while the X-Series description cites 48 inches.
Engines and drive
The E-Series uses a 22 hp Kohler, which a dealer lists as a KT725. The S-Series is listed at 24 hp, and a dealer lists a Kohler KT735 of 725 cc on the 54-inch QZS735GKC54200. The X-Series has a 24 hp Kohler V-twin.
Top speed is 7 mph forward and 5 mph reverse. Drive is dual Hydro-Gear hydrostatic units: ZT-2100 on the 50-inch E and ZT-2200 on the 54-inch S, per dealer pages.
Deck
The E-Series has a welded steel floating deck in 42 or 50 inches with three blades on the 50. The S-Series 54-inch has three 18.75-inch blades and a four-point suspension. Cutting height is 1.5 to 4.5 inches in half-inch steps, set from the seat, and tip speed is about 18,500 ft/min.
Size and comfort
Fuel capacity is 2.9 gallons on Exmark’s page and 3 gallons on dealer pages. The 50-inch has 11×4 front and 18×7.5 rear tires, and the 54-inch has 13×6.5 and 20×10 tires. The S-Series frame is a riveted 10-gauge unibody with a high-back, spring-suspended seat. Weights are not published on the pages we read.
Warranty and fit
Exmark lists 3 years or 300 hours, whichever comes first. The Quest suits one to three acres of residential lawn; a dealer page rates the E-Series 50 for one to three acres. A small tank and 7 mph are the trade-offs against the Radius.
