ISX 800 review

Ferris ISX 800 overview

The ISX 800 is the top step of Ferris’s mid-size commercial-grade zero-turns. Ferris lists six variants on one page, in 52 and 60-inch widths with Briggs and Stratton or Kawasaki power, at US list prices from $11,769 to $13,143. This Ferris ISX 800 review covers that whole group.

It sits above the IS 600 and IS 700, with bigger drive tires and a heavier transaxle than either.

Engines

The 52-inch comes with a 27 hp Briggs and Stratton CXi (model 5902154, $11,769) or a 24 hp Kawasaki FT730V (5902155, $11,989). On the 60-inch there are four choices: the CXi at 27 hp (5902075, $11,989), the FT730V at 24 hp (5902073, $12,648), the FT730V EFI at 26 hp (5902074, $13,143) and a CXi EFI-ETC with OilXtend at 27 hp (5902172, $12,374).

All displacements are 810 cc for the Briggs and 726 cc for the Kawasaki. Ferris notes that its power ratings are gross SAE J2723 figures as rated by Kawasaki, which is odd wording on the Briggs models, so treat the numbers as indicative.

Drive and suspension

Dual Hydro-Gear ZT-3400 transaxles with 7-inch cooling fans move the machine at 0 to 10 mph forward and 0 to 5 mph in reverse. The ForeFront suspension system carries a 10-year warranty, and the mid-back seat is suspended with adjustable armrests.

Drive tires are 23×10.5-12 and the casters are 13×6.5-6, the largest set among the three Ferris models in our batch.

Deck and equipment

The deck is 10-gauge fabricated steel with a cutting range from 1.5 to 5 inches and greasable aluminum spindles. The iCD+ cutting system is available on select models. A 12 to 60 volt USB port with Type A and C outputs sits on the dash.

The page does not state blade count or length. OilXtend, found only on the 5902172, is described by Ferris as adding 250 hours of oil-change interval, which it calls 2.5 times the industry standard.

Size, warranty and fit

Dry weight is 1,206 lb for the 52-inch and 1,268 lb for the 60-inch. Overall length is 81 inches, the tank is 6 gallons and the ROPS folds. Warranty is 2 years unlimited hours or 4 years and 500 hours, whichever comes first, with the suspension at 10 years.

It suits landscapers and large-property owners who want 10 mph and suspension. If the budget is tighter, look at the IS 700.

Buying information

Price

$11,769

Starting US MSRP of the 52-in. Briggs CXi (5902154), seen on ferrismowers.com in Oct 2026. Other variants run to $13,143. Excludes setup and delivery.

Where to buy

Warranty

Per Ferris: 2 years unlimited hours or 4 years/500 hours (whichever comes first) on the balance of the machine, 10 years on the suspension. Engine warranty is per the engine operator's manual.

Depreciation and resale

No published resale figures. Ferris sells through dealers, so used values vary.

Ownership

Common problems

Spec-based limits: its 1,200-plus lb weight can rut soft ground, and the 6-gallon tank is the same as the cheaper IS models.

Maintenance

Transaxles are listed as fully serviceable and the floor pan removes for deck cleaning. Spindles are greasable, so schedule grease and oil service.
